Past US Presidents are being honored through issue of a series of commemorative coins. It was actually only in the year 2007 that the first Presidential Dollar Program came into existence and it saw Presidential coins honoring the first four US Presidents being issued that featured George Washington and John Adams as well as Thomas Jefferson and James Madison.

The Program Ends In The Year 2016

For those coin collectors that are interested in Presidential dollar coin collecting there is good news because these commemorative coins will be minted till the year 2016. Each past US President will have a coin released that honor them and this is in fact the third attempt that has been made by the US Mint to come out with a series of tiny dollar coins that honor each of the deceased former US Presidents.

When it concerns dollar coin collecting there are so many options available that you would be hard pressed to identify the better dollar coins that are worth collecting. For one, the Flowing Hair Dollar, an original and silver dollar that was made in only the second year after the start of US Mint operations was available in limited numbers with them being produced only for a couple of years and which totaled about one hundred and sixty-two thousand coins in all. It was later replaced with the Bust Dollar that was minted in the middle of 1795. However, the Flowing Hair dollar is much sought after and its value too is very, very high.
